Be careful where you comment! It could sabotage your job search

Hiring managers and recruiters can potentially come across your comments on social media, most commonly LinkedIn. No, we're not stalking you - we can just see your recent activity in your LinkedIn profile. Also, sometimes we look for candidates on social media, so if your presence there isn't a good one, we'll pass you up.

What types of interactions do we not like to see? It all mainly comes down to negativity and ego.

I get that the job search is grueling and demoralizing. Truly, I do. But you can't let that seep out into the world. If you're leaving negative comments, bashing companies, complaining about this and that, being all "woe is me" because you're having trouble finding a job, it doesn't leave a good first impression. If that's how you act on the job search, imagine how it looks to a hiring manager. You look like you'll crack under stress. Also, most teams don't want negativity.

As for ego, similar thing. People don't like arrogance. If you're constantly belittling people and presenting yourself as someone who knows everything, most teams won't want you. It doesn't matter how amazing you are at your job, if you don't play nice with others and can't be supporting, hiring managers will pass you up.
